Four major rivers originate high in the Adirondack State Park and flow north through St. Lawrence County to the St. Lawrence River: the Oswegatchie, Grasse, Raquette and St. Regis. Despite their pristine appearance, three issues pose potential threats to humans and our ability to manage these waters properly: mercury contamination, the invasive plant Eurasian watermilfoil, and fecal contamination of source water.
